Welcome to Four Chickadees and Me blog! It is here that I share my often pointless thoughts...my over stressed feelings and stories that are just to crazy to keep to myself! And yes...most include my girls I like to think of as my little chickadees...they indeed follow me everywhere!

Feel free to check out some of my other blogs that I have listed above...just click and enjoy!

House Update: Basement

It's done.

I don't think I have ever heard two sweeter words. Well...."I do" ranked up there...and so did "It's a girl"...but that is three words so it doesn't count!
I can not explain what a dark dreary cloud this undone basement has been over our heads. Always something that had to be done. Now...we sit around and just stare at each other...what will we ever do with so much free time on our hands?!?!!? (Remind me of this state of euphoria once spring arrives....did I mention we live in the middle of an island of dirt and mud? Lots of landscaping and grass planting to be done!)
Anyways...for those of you that have been curious to see the end result..here it is! The basement is pretty much all kid domain...which has been wonderful for those of us that mostly reside on the main level...and that would be me!!! :-)
(I can no longer add pics to my "home" blog...but feel free to check out past post as we have worked on the house. I think there are some other pics on this blog, also! Just click on the "JOURNEY TO HOME" link up on top of this page!)
On the bottom of the stairs is the "learning area"....computer, art and craft kits,a place to sit...you get the picture!

Behind these closed doors is a guest bedroom...bathroom...and a unfinished mechanical room full of a couple freezers, storage unit and lots and lots of wires! I guess you could say this is where the "brains" of the house is stored...I'll spare you a pic!

Moving toward the middle of the basement is a game table and the couch area.

Around the corner from this wall is Syd's playroom....and a place that all our little visitors under the age of 5 tend to migrate....and a place that all our visitors over the age of 20 try to avoid!! I could of cleaned and staged it to be a cute little room....but that would be a lie!
I don't lie....the truth can be a messy thing!!!

Now, back into a more calming color palette! I guess you could say this is the "heart" of the basement.

This is the largest room in the house. My dad wanted us to put in a "mini theater"....I couldn't talk him into buying a movie projector...or some comfy chairs. So...I settled for an exercise room! I didn't think buttery popcorn would be near as healthy!

The last room in the basement is actually one of my favorites....the storage room. It is rough...it is dark and windowless....it is noisy from the heat/air unit....and I LOVE IT!!!! I will love it even more after I have a garage sale and make even more space for me to smile at! There is a true happiness in knowing where your "stuff" is at!!!

This completes the basement tour! I don't see many changes being made until the girls are older and ready to attempt to sneak out of the house! At that time...we may turn some space into bedrooms and invest in a laser security system!

Week(s) in Pictures: Jan.8-Feb. 20

I am almost embarrassed to show my face here...once again! I've slacked...once again!
Its been busy...its been boring. Does that even make since?!? To much going on to have time to get the camera out, yet nothing to important going on to share!

We have had a few "highlights" during these wintry days.

Madison finished up her basketball/cheerleading season. She learned alot and had a blast!

We discovered that bubble bath from "Bath and Body" does indeed work better than the cheap stuff from Walmart. We now appreciate the advice that "a little bit goes a long ways"!!
The girls really wanted to take advantage of the snow...so the answer was to go sledding.
Problem: No sled
Solution: Mark went to Wally World to get one.
Problem: Sold out of sleds (*make not to self- do not wait to buy sled during blizzard season!)
Solution: Mark made a sled out of the front of our old washing machine (he's such a good daddy!)
ONE FOR YOUR MONEY!!!......

TWO FOR THE SHOW....

THREE TO GET READY....

AND FOUR TO GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

And "GO" they did! It is at this time that I jumped on the back of the 4-wheeler to take pics. The girls had so much fun...the back of my calves, knuckles and little heart, on the other hand, had more that they could take! (Riding backwards on a metal rack and holding onto a big camera is really a workout!!!)
